Star Trek: The Janus Gate — Past Prologue

{4.5/5} “‘Then I presume you understand why I cannot allow you to consult with us now.’ Spock lifted an eyebrow at the questioning looks the older men gave him. ‘Logically, neither you nor Captain Sulu may be considered to be allies in any attempt we make to repair the timeline that is keeping you alive.'”

Star Trek: The Janus Gate — Past Prologue by L. A. Graf, published in 2002

When Captain James T. Kirk falls in a cave on Tlaoli 4, he ends up somewhere completely different. It doesn’t take him long to figure out he’s on Grex, during the time when he was a teenager when the Vragax went on a rampage. Then he runs into his father.

The cybernetic aliens called Shechenag have told Spock and his team that they can’t use the Janus Gate any more. They reveal that they once were at war for 9000 years. They also tell the Starfleet people that they have 10 hours to leave the system.

This is the sequel to Future Imperfect and completes the trilogy.

It’s about sacrifice, always having a plan B, and dealing with antagonists who come out of nowhere.

I’ve read 10 books by Graf.
