Pitch Perfect

{5/5} “Even though some of you are pretty thin, you all have fat hearts, and that’s what matters.” — Fat Amy

Pitch Perfect, released in 2012

Beca’s father is making her attend college — it is free, though, since he teaches there. But she wants to go to LA to become a music producer. Her father makes her a deal — participate in just one club, and if she still doesn’t want to do college after a year she can go to LA. She joins the female a cappella group and ends up transforming them.

The songs and the harmonies they sing are delightful, and the characters learn a thing or two. The concept of the riff-off, where you think up what songs to sing on the spot, is stunning.

Stars Esther Dean, Hana Mae Lee, Skylar Astin, and Ben Platt. Directed by Jason Moore (Sisters).

This is the 2nd time I’ve seen it. My previous review is here.
