Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child by Frank Miller, published in 2019
Lara and her brother Jonathan soar above Metropolis, looking down on the humans, and eventually they reach Gotham. Carrie aka Batgirl dispels a violent mob — a mob over the election. When they arrive at the Bunker, Lara is grumpy but Carrie convinces her to listen. Meanwhile, Darkseid and the Joker are working together to help elect the most terrible governor ever.
This book is much smaller than the previous ones in the series.
Bruce Wayne doesn’t show up, but it focuses on characters we’ve come to know in previous books.
It draws a parallel between a comic-book villain and a real-world villian. The ending is very nice, reminiscent of Angel.
The artwork by Rafael Grampá is superb.
I’ve read 4 graphic novels by Miller. I previously reviewed Batman: The Dark Knight — Master Race.
