Solo: A Star Wars Story
{5/5} “I just couldn’t help but notice you’re wearing a uniform that’s pocked full of laser burns so either you heal real quick or… you stole it off a dead man.”
Solo: A Star Wars Story, released in 2018
Han and his girlfriend Qi’ra, among others, are being forced to steal for Lady Proxima in return for food and shelter. When he steals a speeder he says it’s time for them to get out. They get separated and only Han makes it through the gate to get off-world — he promises to return for her. But he never does — and years later he meets her again in very different circumstances.
This time I wanted to watch this movie right after having watched one of the ones from the original trilogy, to see how things match up.
They match up perfectly. We might not have needed a Han backstory but we got a brilliant one. It starts off with a great scene, and continues that way — it’s exciting and clever.
I’m glad that Woody Harrelson and Thandiwe Newton got a chance to do a science fiction adventure, and as a couple no less. I’m also glad Chewbacca got to be more of a main character in this one.
There’s a surprising (the first time) appearance of a character I didn’t think we’d see again — to give you a hint, last time we saw him his body was split in two.
Stars Paul Bettany, Erin Kellyman, and the voices of Jon Favreau, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Linda Hunt. Directed by Ron Howard (Eden). The music is by John Powell.
This is the 2nd time I’ve seen it. My previous review is here.
I previously reviewed Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back in this series.
