Star Trek: Worldsinger

{4.5/5} “What use is there for one who sings the songs of a dead world?”

Star Trek: Worldsinger by J. Michael Straczynski, published in Feb. 1991

The Enterprise is in orbit of a planet that’s about to implode — everyone has been evacuated that they’re just taking readings. Then a life form shows up on the surface, and they beam down to check it out. His name is Rell, he’s from the planet, he knows he’s going to die, and that’s what he wants. He uses his telepathy to show Kirk, Spock, and McCoy the history of his planet. When he disappears, Kirk sets out to find him — he’s still planning on convincing him to leave.

A story told in one issue is a pretty short story, but Straczynski and the artists manage to convey something with more depth.

I’ve read a bunch of graphic novels and comic books by Straczynski. I previously reviewed Supreme Power.
