Star Trek: Mission — Muddled

{4.5/5} “‘Well, for one thing, Skellen Three’s soil and climate aren’t exactly conducive to farming. So why build an agricultural colony?’ ‘Maybe these farmers just aren’t very bright. Doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve got ulterior motives, does it?'” — Kirk & McCoy

Star Trek: Mission — Muddled by Howard Weinstein, published in 3 issues from Aug. 1991 to Oct. 1991

The Enterprise has arrived at Skellen Three, where there’s a mining colony that’s interested in joining the Federation. Since the planet is between Federation and Klingon space, the Federation is interested in them. When Kirk goes down to talk to the head of the colony he reveals that Klingons have been there. There’s another colony on the planet too so they need to check it out — it’s Nasgul.

Harry Mudd shows up, and this time he has a protege. It’s a fun story with some conspiracies and rulers who don’t belong in power.

The 3rd issue is a special longer one to celebrate the 25th anniversary, and contains a few essays and extra artwork.

I’ve read 5 novels and a bunch of comic books by Weinstein. I previously reviewed Star Trek: Gods’ Gauntlet.
