Self/less

{4.5/5} “Simply put, we offer humanity’s greatest minds more time to fulfill their potential.”

Self/less, released in 2015

Damian is dying of cancer. A company called Phoenix Biogenic offers him a unique possibility — “shedding.” He can transfer his mind into a healthy young body that’s been grown in a vat. After undergoing the procedure, some physical therapy, and learning his new identity, he goes out into the world. One day when he forgets to take his medication, his new life starts to unravel.

It’s about people who will do anything to live a longer life — and protect their secret.

It’s exciting, and the ending is terrific.

Don’t expect to see too much of Ben Kingsley — his is the body whose mind gets transferred out of.

Stars Ryan Reynolds and Victor Garber. Directed by Tarsem Singh (The Fall).
