Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

{4.5/5} “Do you remember the first time you saw a dinosaur? First time you see them, it’s like… a miracle. You read about them in books, you see the bones in museums but you don’t really… believe it. They’re like myths. And then you see… the first one alive.”

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, released in 2018

Jurassic World was abandoned 3 years ago, but now a volcano on the island is erupting and all the dinosaurs are in danger. Benjamin Lockwood, who used to work with John Hammond, is financing a rescue operation. Claire agrees to help, and she tries to get Owen to come along.

If you’re in the mood for some dinosaurs eating humans, this is the movie for you. There’s running and screaming.

It’s also about the relationship between Owen and Blue the velociraptor, and the idea of dinosaurs as endangered species.

I liked it a lot, and the ending moves the series in an interesting new direction.

Jeff Goldblum (reprising his role as Ian Malcolm) and James Cromwell have small roles.

Stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Directed by J. A. Bayona (A Monster Calls). The delightful music is by Michael Giacchino.

I previously reviewed Jurassic World.
