The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part

{4.5/5} “Look on our custom vehicles and despair!”

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, released in 2019

Everything was awesome. And then the aliens came, smashing everything. Now Emmett and Lucy live in Apocalypseburg. Emmett built a traditional house for him and Lucy to live in, but Lucy knows the house will attract attention from the aliens. And a new form of alien shows up, this time abducting Lucy. Emmett is going on a rescue mission, but no one else comes with him.

This is, of course, the sequel to The Lego Movie.

It doesn’t have quite the same oomph as the original, but it’s funny and enjoyable.

There are lots of references, but they’re used in a more clever way than in Ready Player One.

Bruce Willis has a cameo as “himself,” and Jason Momoa provides the voice for Aquaman.

Stars the voices of Tiffany Haddish, Alison Brie, and Nick Offerman. Directed by Mike Mitchell (Shrek Forever After). The song “Not Evil” is delightful.
