In “Triptych” after Captain Kirk and the others fail to return from the Guardian of Forever, Uhura must go through and attempt to save them all. In “The First Law of Metaphysics” after Kirk’s death Spock returns to Vulcan to see Saavik and to help a young girl with her first mind meld. In “A Ribbon for Rosie” Anika Hansen and her parents are visited by a silver clad woman from the future who warns them not to go to the Delta Quadrant.
On the whole it’s not quite as brilliant as the previous entry in the series, but this anthology offers great stories for fans of the 1st 4 Star Trek series. Two of the stories feature Dulmer and Lucsly, from the Department of Temporal Investigations.
Authors Dayton Ward, Ilsa J. Bick, William Leisner, and Kathy Oltion went on to publish Star Trek novels.
