Encanto
{5/5} “Maybe your gift is being in denial.”
Encanto, released in 2021
Everyone in Mirabel’s family has a magic gift, except for her. Fifty years ago a candle produced a miracle — a town for refugees to live in. And the Madrigal family has been helping the town with their miracles ever since. Now it’s time for Antonio to step up to the magic door and receive his gift, and then there’s a big party. When Mirabel sees cracks in the Casa Madrigal, no one believes her because they’re gone by the time they get back.
This is a gloriously animated Disney movie, with delightful songs. In most musicals some songs are better than others, but in this one they’re thrilling and often hilarious.
In the scene with Bruno in his room, the rats are very funny.
It’s about understanding and accepting that you’re not perfect.
