Disenchanted
{3.5/5} “I love festivals, we have them all the time where I come from. They were usually interrupted by evil forces of some kind, but when they weren’t they really brought people together.”
Disenchanted, released in 2022
Giselle and Robert decide to move to Monroeville, but teenaged Morgan isn’t happy about it. Morgan doesn’t have a great first day at school, and even Robert isn’t sure about commuting to the city every day. The King and Queen of Andalasia drop by to give a wand of wishes to their goddaughter, and Giselle decides she will use it to make things better.
This is the sequel to Enchanted.
Despite the common premise of a wish gone bad, it was very nice to see these characters again.
Like Thor: Love and Thunder, it seemed to have all the right pieces in place but overall didn’t attain the magic of the previous movie.
The songs are funny and clever. Amy Adams and Maya Rudolph’s duet is particularly delightful.
As for the plot, there were a few too many things that didn’t make sense, especially near the end. Characters believe they can do certain things without a logical reason.
Stars Maya Rudolph, Gabriella Baldacchino, Idina Menzel, and James Marsden. Directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray). The songs are once again written by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz.
