The Addams Family 2

{4/5} “I didn’t want to be an Addams. I struggled with feeling different. But now I realize that being different is the most Addams-y thing there is.”

The Addams Family 2, released in 2021

The Addams family decides to go on a road trip. A lawyer comes to tell them that Wednesday may have been switched at birth for another baby. Gomez and Morticia think Wednesday has paid the lawyer to say that, but she hasn’t. The lawyer follows them all the way to Niagara Falls. Wednesday realizes something is up  but she’s not sure what — she thinks Gomez is dying.

This movie has a bit more slapstick, chasing, and fighting than the first one. With time spent on those things, there’s less time for more interesting things.

It does have its moments, though — there are funny parts, and parts where the main characters get to shine.

It’s about family, whether they’re your blood relatives or not.

Stars the voices of Nick Kroll, Bette Midler, Bill Hader, Wallace Shawn, and Snoop Dogg. Directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan (The Addams Family), and Laura Brousseau (head of lighting on The Addams Family). The musical choices are, in general, less interesting than the first one.
