Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

{4/5} “Hold my horse.”

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, released in 2023

Indiana Jones’s friend Basil was obsessed with the antikythera, built by Archimedes. The two of them took half of it from the Nazis in the old days. Now Basil’s daughter, Helena, has taken it from Indy and intends to sell it to the highest bidder. But one of the Nazis, Voller, is still alive and he won’t let anything stop him from putting the two halves together and going back in time to win World War II.

They do a good job of dealing with Indy’s age. And the scenes in 1944 where they have de-aged Harrison Ford are astonishing.

As for the story, it is entertaining. There is one aspect that doesn’t really fit in the world of Indiana Jones.*

John Rhys-Davies and Karen Allen make brief but nice appearances.

Stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Toby Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, and Antonio Banderas. Directed by James Mangold (Knight and Day). The music is, one last time, by John Williams.

The previous movie in the series is Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
