The Illusionist

{5/5} “There’s no trick they haven’t seen.”

The Illusionist, released in 2006

Eduard and Sophie are childhood friends but are separated because of their social stature. Eduard moves away for 15 years, studying magic. When he returns he goes by the name Eisenheim the Illusionist. Everyone is impressed with his magic, including the prince. Prince Leopold and Sophie might marry, but Sophie sometimes wishes that she could run away from her obligations.

This movie grabs you right away.

Edward Norton mastered some of the illusions that his character presents.

There is a sort of Ocean’s Eleven-type twist.

Stars Jessica Biel, Paul Giamatti, and Rufus Sewell. Directed by Neil Burger (Limitless). The music by Philip Glass has a classical flair.

This is the 3rd time I’ve seen it. My previous review is here.
