Superman
{5/5} “‘You trust everyone and think everyone you’ve ever met is, like… beautiful.’ ‘Maybe that’s the real punk rock.'” — Lois & Clark
Superman, released in 2025
Unlike other villains he has faced in the past, Superman is having trouble defeating the Hammer of Boravia. Unbeknownst to him, the Hammer is receiving instructions from Lex Luther, who has built up a catalogue of thousands of fighting maneuvers. When he’s knocked out, his dog Krypto pulls him to his fortress where he is reinvigorated by the yellow sun. Meanwhile, Clark Kent’s article about Superman’s fight with the Hammer has made the front page.
I like how this Superman is a bit more careful with people and property than the previous one. The movie finds a perfect balance in between the other Superman movies, some of which are too silly and some of which are too dark.
It’s a movie that knows who the good guys are and who the bad guys are.
I will always have a fondness for Christopher Reeve as Superman but Corenswet does a superb job. And, for now, this is the best Superman movie.
Nathan Fillion has a nice role as Green Lantern, as well as Bradley Cooper as Jor-El.
Stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, and Skyler Gisondo. Directed by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3).
