Mr. Holmes
{5/5} “When you’re a detective and a man comes to see you, it’s usually about his wife.”
Mr. Holmes, released in 2015
In 1947 Sherlock Holmes is old and has grown forgetful. He’s trying to remember the details of his last case, which caused him to retire to the countryside. He remembers that a man came to see him who was worried about his wife. Holmes lives with a housekeeper, Mrs. Munro, and her son Roger. He introduces Roger to his bees and grows fond of the boy.
This movie is about making a mistake so dire that it changes the rest of your life. It’s about making a connection with someone, even if you don’t usually do so.
It’s brilliant — all Holmes fans will want to watch it.
Directed by Bill Condon (Gods and Monsters).
This is the 2nd time I’ve watched it. My previous review is here.
