The Thursday Murder Club

{5/5} “In my experience, people are more likely to crack or reveal things when they’re uncomfortable.”

The Thursday Murder Club, released in 2025

Joyce moves to a retirement home and is happy to find the Thursday Murder Club, a group that investigates old murders. Joyce has a medical background, so the club is happy for her to join. At the moment they’re investigating a case from the 1970s. A woman was stabbed and pushed out of her window, and her boyfriend came across her on the street — and apparently saw a masked man running away. Then the boyfriend disappeared.

This movie is about getting to the bottom of things, and it contains a plethora of brilliant actors.

It’s beautiful, funny, and startling.

Richard E. Grant has a small but fun part.

Stars Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, Jonathan Pryce, and David Tennant. Directed by Chris Columbus (Home Alone).
