Stranger Things (season 5)

{5/5} “I was looking for answers in somebody else. But I had all the answers. I just needed to stop being so… scared. Scared of who I really was. Once I did that, I felt so free. It’s like I could fly.” — Robin

Stranger Things season 5, aired in 2025

Many residents of Hawkins fled after the earthquake. Then the whole town was quarantined. Robin is the DJ for the radio station and Steve is her assistant — she’s secretly encoding messages in some of what she says. Eleven is working with Hop and Joyce, running an obstacle course in preparation for the big fight. Decoys of Eleven are sent out to keep the military busy. Murray is sneaking things inside the fence hidden amongst groceries.

This is the last season. There are very nice scenes between all the characters you love. Holly, Nancy and Mike’s sister, might not have done much in previous seasons but she’s a great character in this one.

The team works together brilliantly, and has astonishing conversations. One beautiful thing the series does is show how people can grow.

The way they retrofitted Vecna into the bad guy all along worked better here than in Spectre. The reveal in episode 4, calling back to season 2, is clever.

As for the finale, it’s fitting and amazing.

Stars Cara Buono, Joe Chrest, Dacre Montgomery, and Linda Hamilton.

I previously reviewed season 4.
