Modern Family (season 5)

{5/5} “Two things I bring to every open house, my lucky pen and a smile. I haven’t sold a house all month. Do you see me saying ‘I’m done’? Never. Because there is no ‘done’ in Dunphy.”

Cam and Mitchell decide to get married — Cam starts planning an absurdly elaborate wedding. Manny and Luke start high school — Gloria and Phil have a tough time letting them go. Claire starts work at Jay’s company, and Gloria refuses to admit that she needs glasses. Lily is worried about her cat when it’s gone for a few days, Cam becomes a football coach, and Gloria hires a nanny who happens to be a man.

Modern Family season 5 just ended.

As with season 4 and all that came before, the show continues to be screamingly funny.

Now that she’s older and has more lines, Lily — Cam and Mitchell’s adopted daughter — is a bigger part of the show. She can usually be counted on for a sarcastic comment.

There were a few episodes that weren’t quite perfect — in which the characters felt like more like caricatures. But they managed to recover.

Nathan Lane (The Birdcage) makes a welcome return as Cam and Mitchell’s friend Pepper — Cam and Mitchell ask him to plan their wedding. Fred Willard (The Magic of Belle Isle) returns as Frank, Phil’s dad, who’s not sure he wants a new relationship after losing his wife. Peri Gilpin (the TV show Frasier), Jessie Eisenberg (Now You See Me), and John Benjamin Hickey (the TV show The Big C) also drop by.
