Elementary (season 2)

{5/5} “The problem with rulebooks, Watson, is that they offer the illusion that leading a moral life is a simple undertaking. That the world exists in black and white. Welcome to the greys.”

Holmes and Watson go to London to help Holmes’ old colleague Inspector Lestrade, and while there they run into Sherlock’s brother Mycroft — the two brothers don’t seem to get along very well. Watson has become more observant and therefore more helpful to Holmes’ cases. When the son of the man who accidentally died on her operating table asks Watson for money, she’s not sure what to do. Holmes is getting letters that he’s keeping a secret from Watson.

Elementary season 2 just finished. It’s just as good as season 1.

As with Castle, both the individual episodes and the ongoing story are fascinating. Holmes has grown as a person but he doesn’t want things to change too much. Mycroft turns out to be full of surprises.

Captain Gregson and Detective Bell get more interesting storylines this season.

Big changes are in store for next season.*

Jon Michael Hill (the TV show Detroit 1-8-7) plays Detective Bell.

Rhys Ifans (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1) plays Mycroft. William Sadler (the TV show Wonderfalls) plays a billionaire who’s connected to a murder victim.

Natalie Dormer (the TV show The Tudors) plays Moriarty.

Spoiler alert

*Watson is moving out, and Holmes is joining MI6.
