Dune
I read 3 or 4 of the Dune books many years ago, and I read 8 of them more recently. They’re worth reading — even if you feel you’re missing a few things here and there, as I did.
Brian Herbert (Frank’s son) and Kevin J. Anderson also wrote a bunch of Dune prequels, which I didn’t read. Their books are either good or great, but they don’t quite match up to what Frank Herbert was able to achieve — and I don’t usually spend that long in one universe.
I saw the Dune movie many years ago — too many to have a coherent opinion about it. I saw the 2 Dune miniseries more recently — they were quite good. The latest director who thinks he’s going to make a Dune movie is Denis Villeneuve, who has a good track record with Arrival and Blade Runner 2049.
