Inside Out

{5/5} “Congratulations, San Francisco. You’ve ruined pizza. First the Hawaiians and now you.”

Inside Out, released in 2015

Riley is an 11-year-old girl whose parents decide to move to San Francisco. She initially tries to make the best of it, but then decides to run away.

Meanwhile, inside Riley’s mind are emotions that come to the forefront at different times — Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear. When some of Riley’s core memories accidentally get knocked out of place, Joy and Sadness must retrieve them and return to Headquarters. Meanwhile, Anger, Disgust, and Fear try to keep things under control but they manage to get Riley sent to her room.

This movie is thrillingly clever and screamingly funny.

Stars the voices of Phyllis Smith, Richard Kind, and Bill Hader. Directed by Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc.) and Ronnie Del Carmen (storyboard artist on Ratatouille). The playful music is by Michael Giacchino.

This is the 2nd time I’ve seen it. My previous review is here.
